Afternoon tea held for Relay for Life
The Elizabeth River Relay for Life/Team Abie held its 4th annual afternoon tea at St. Andrews UMC. Team Abie was created in memory of team leader Mary Wilborn's grandfather, who succumbed to cancer when Mary was a teen and is one of the most successful fundraising teams in the Elizabeth River group, which includes Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Suffolk. The event included tea, finger foods, a luminaria ceremony and a silent auction of homemade tea sets.
Linda Wilborn, left, and Donna Ross of the Beazley Senior Citizens Center donated the ceramic tea pots for auction.
From left: Sunny Driedric, her mother Sunci and her aunt Conchita Nespoli came to the event in support of family members with cancer.
Abie's Team leader Mary Wilborn, left, with her mother, Sharon Hodges. Mary created Abie's Team so that her family could work together to fight cancer.
